Have you ever had a scratch on your Hyundai and wish you could fix it? Well then you might need a Hyundai Paint Pen! This is a genuine OEM paint pen that is made to match your paint color. When you provide us with your VIN, we at My Hyundai Store Online will look up the exact color you need.
Here are the steps to using your Hyundai paint pen:
STEP 1:
Gather your materials. You will need the following: Hyundai paint pen Sanding stick Clean cloth Clear coat (optional)
STEP 2:
Prepare the surface. Clean the area around the scratch with a clean cloth. If the scratch is deep, you may need to use a fine-grit sandpaper to smooth out the edges.
STEP 3:
Shake paint pen until you hear a sound, shake for 30 seconds. Remove cap on PAINT side, try on a scrap piece of paper pressing DOWN, holding until the paint comes out. Dab until excess paint is gone.
STEP 4:
Apply the paint. Hold the paint pen at a 45-degree angle and apply a thin coat of paint to the scratch. Work in small sections, overlapping each stroke slightly.
STEP 5:
Let the paint dry. Allow the paint to dry for 10-15 minutes before applying a second coat. If the scratch is deep, you may need to apply 3 coats of paint.
STEP 6:
Apply clear coat (optional). Clear coat will help to protect the paint and prevent it from fading. If you choose to apply clear coat, apply it in the same way as the paint.
STEP 7:
Let the clear coat dry. Allow the clear coat to dry for 24 hours before driving your car.
Here are some additional tips for using a Hyundai paint pen:
- If the scratch is very small, you may be able to get away with using a toothpick or cotton swab to apply the paint.
- If the scratch is in a difficult-to-reach area, you can use a mirror to help you see what you're doing.
- Be careful not to apply too much paint, as this can cause the paint to run.
- If you make a mistake, you can usually wipe away the excess paint with a clean cloth.
- If you are not comfortable using a paint pen, you can take your car to a professional for a touch-up.
- It is always good to push down on the tip of the paint pen until you hear a “pop.” Then you want to make sure you prime it by pushing up and down on it a few times.
Please keep in mind that there is a small chance the color may differ from the color of your vehicle. This can be due to sun fading the natural paint color over time. Also note that the VIN will pull the original color of the vehicle. If your vehicle has been painted, then the code from the VIN will not match.
